"Mercy Me With Their Beautiful Worship Music"

Right after we'd moved from our home of 27 years in Oxnard, CA., and were settling down up here in Tehachapi, I heard Mercy Me and was very impressed ... not with just their music, but also with the fact that you could hear it from their hearts in praise. My favorite song of theirs is "I Can Only Imagine" ~ and I know that the reason it meant so much to me was because I had prepared to die in 1985 when I had my brain surgery, and it took me over 6 mos. after my surgery to get over the fact that I hadn't died. My heart just longed to be with my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ! Even to this day I have those moments where I can feel my whole being longing to be lifted up and out of this world, and sometimes I wish those moments would stay with me a little longer. But my Father God knows me better than I know myself, and He knows just when my time to see Him will be. So I will continue to do all that I can to give what He has blessed me immensely with each day ... His Great Love, to those I come into contact with. Always remember .... words we say mean very little, ~ but our actions, thoughts, and deeds speak louder that words!!! May we live with the heart of Christ and be doers ... not just sayers of the Word!

"Scotland's Susan Boyle ~ What A Remarkable Lady!"

I remember the very first time that I heard Susan Boyle on YouTube, I got chills down my spine as I listened to this sweet 47-year-old gal from Scotland ... who was unemployed ... sing. Before she sang, she was joking back and forth with the judges, Piers, Amanda, & Simon, getting laughter from the audience, and I'm sure from those watching over the "tele" were snickering at her, also. Just a plain, everyday woman ... nearly 50 years old, going to strike her try with the music .... 'trying' to sing like Elaine Paige.

The laughter died down, and the music started Susan sweetly smiled, concentrating and began to let her voice flow ... she started sharing this gorgeous voice which caused the walls to shake in awe. The audience was totally amazed in silence as were the judges at the meticulous, strong, yet feminine, voice with clarity of words and emotion. We all were so enthralled in the beauty of her voice that you would just love her, I couldn't just listen to her once, I listened to her over and over and over again. Did she sound like Elaine Paige? She sounded as beautiful, if not better!

Susan Boyle, you are such a gracious lady ... may you receive blessings from our Heavenly Father and be touched with love, as you have touched and woke up this rough, judgmental, high-society~ized, desensitized, synical world ... with your beautiful voice ... from a "real lady" who is very modest ... and very beautiful ~ both within and without!

The Simply Music story begins with an 8 year old blind boy.

I had been teaching students and training teachers for many years, presenting a program that was based on an alternative approach to reading music. It achieved comparatively good results, however, it was a traditional program in that it introduced music reading as the means of learning how to play.

One day I received a phone call and was asked if I would be willing to teach an 8-year old boy who was blind. I had absolutely no doubt that I could teach him, although at that point in time, I wasn’t sure exactly how. Certainly however, reading music would be out of the question.

As a child, my own background in music was an initial 8 years of piano lessons, starting at age 7. I had been blessed with a deep affinity for music that, according to my mother, was very evident even during infancy. With an already developed ear for music, when I began piano lessons I merely needed to watch and listen to my teacher as he played the songs I would be learning. I had the ability to aurally remember the songs in detail and then ‘figure them out’ during the week. I also had an idiosyncrasy whereby whenever I listened to music, I would visualize two and three-dimensional ‘shapes’. In short, I heard music, but saw ‘sentences, ‘sequences’ and ‘patterns’. Even though describing this can sound quite obscure, at the time it was all completely easy and perfectly natural to me.

There is music in all of nature which our Father God has blessed us with; music from our human hearts, music from instruments, and music from our voices. Sounds which come together to make melody, harmony, rhythm, dynamics, and to syncronize well. I have had a deep love for music since my childhood from my family. In taking concert piano for the short 5 years that I could, I learned and absorbed so much more about the beauty and character of sounds, timing, precision, and learning it so well, that I could add to it myself. . .THAT is the beauty of music! One of my favorite types of music, is the music of the winds of nature.
